In October I went up to NYC for the Photo Plus Photography expo and then went out to Long Beach to stay with my good friends Jodi and Tom for the night. They have the pleasure of living one block from the beach. The end of October and the beach aren’t really two things that go together but the guys were getting up early to go surfing so Jodi and I tagged along with our camera’s to keep ourselves entertained. I was surprised at how many people were out in the water surfing. Even with the wetsuit you couldn’t pay me enough money to get in the water when it’s that cold. It’s sort of rare that I get a chance to just mess around with my camera anymore because I am always shooting for clients. It was nice to take some fun shots that I could actually go crazy in Lightroom and Photoshop messing around with actions. I’m pretty sure people would kill me if I did this to their wedding photos but for something like this it was perfect!
I am no expert on surfing but standing in waist high water with waves this high crashing over your head doesn’t seem like fun but Travis was loving it.
These guys kept apologizing for walking into my shot but it just wouldn’t have been the same without them there.
And last but not least here is one of Tom & Travis heading back out for some more waves.
Summer is just around the corner so think warm thoughts. More beach and surfing photos to come I’m sure!
